was founded as a fortress to fight off the enemies in 1221 by Grand Duke Yury Vsevolodovich. From time immemorial, the city was called the money pocket of . Chkalovsk is mostly known for the great Russian pilot and inventor, V.P. Chkalov who was born and brought up there. The town of Lyskovocan be found in a picturesque spot on the right bank of the Volga, from .
